MP Vikram Sahney Calls on Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan; Urges Early Announcement of PU Senate Elections

Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Padma Shri Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab called upon Sh. C.P. Radhakrishnan, Vice President of India and Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh in New Delhi.

Dr. Sahney expressed gratitude to the Vice President for intervening in the matter of the withdrawn notification that had earlier proposed dissolution of the Graduate Constituency from the Panjab University Senate.

Dr. Sahney highlighted the growing concern among students and stakeholders regarding the pending announcement of fresh Senate election dates. He conveyed that as per various credible media reports the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University has already submitted proposed dates and urged for their early approval. “The Senate is the backbone of the University’s democratic governance. Declaring the new election schedule promptly will uphold transparency, prevent further unrest, and ensure continuity in the University’s academic and administrative functioning,” said Dr. Sahney.

Reiterating his commitment to safeguarding the interests of Punjab’s premier educational institutions, Dr. Sahney emphasized that timely elections are essential for maintaining the University’s legacy and autonomy.
